People often say to me “I wish I read more” and “I never have time to read” - stuff like this. These are people I love. I don’t understand these people. They are good people. Well intentioned. They are likely the same folks who don’t respond to emails for a week. I say this with peace and love.
If you want to do something
you will find the time
So, instead of recommending another book that you probably won’t read. I’ve pulled together a roadmap to help jumpstart your new favorite hobby - book reading 📖.
*basically, if you substitute the time you spend looking at your phone (even half) with reading you will transform into a great reader.
Day in the life:
7:00am - While brushing teeth. (2 minutes)
7:30am - Put the coffee on! Turn some pages as you wait for that fine cup to brew. (5 minutes)
8:00am - Prepare yourself a light breakfast. Yogurt. Granola. Maybe a banana. Take a seat and crack that book. (5 minutes)
Commence your work day. Rise and grind!
1:00pm - Time to break for lunch. Put down your phone and forego scrolling Instagram for a big chunk! (20 minutes)
Back at it. Continue to live your life. Eat dinner with your family. Spend time with your loved ones. You may even be compelled to talk about what you’re reading.
9:45pm - Get yourself ready for night-night. Bring that book with you. (2 minutes)
10:00pm - This is when you can really go for it. I’ve been able to knock out 100 pages before bed. This block is where great readers are made. Do you. But, for the sake of this exercise lets ease into it. (30 minutes)
Total reading time = 64 minutes
According to an article I found on the internet titled “How Many Pages Can You Read in an Hour” the average person should be able to read 50 pages an hour!
So, how many pages can you read in an hour is an issue subject to different opinions that may vary from person to person. But the standard is that a person can read 40 to 50 pages in an hour on average.
Really makes you think, eh?
When do you get your big chunks in? Before dinner? In Bed? While walking the dog?! You know you can always sound off in the comments.
Ok. I’ll get off it. I have a great interview to share with you next week. I am currently reading something that I love. I’ll share a bit more about it down the road. If you ever want to chat. Let me know!
